image     RIO designs and manufactures the world's most advanced fly lines, leaders and tippets because they actually fish them. The development and strict standards of their products is a direct result of their collective passion for fly fishing.

The RIO philosophy begins and ends with the realization that a better fly line will help you catch more fish... whether you're playing chuck-'n-duck with one of the newest, fastest cannons; easing a size 22 down the lane of a sipping little brookie; or trying to fool an ill-tempered 120 pound tarpon under a tropical sun; they know what you're going through, and they make the best line for the job. RIO has developed, tested, tweaked, and tested again a specialty line for all of your craziest (and not-so-craziest) fishing scenarios.     image

RIO Steelhead Fly Line   Made for the specific casting demands of Steelhead and Atlantic salmon fly fishing - also a fantastic nymphing line with a strike indicator. The long belly and back taper were developed for roll or overhead casting and single-handed spey casting. A bullet front taper helps deliver bombers and other large flies. This line works well with a greaseline or waking fly technique. RIO's state-of-the-art computer-driven fly line technology allows them to taper the rear belly with slightly more diameter. This creates weight in order to load the rod butt for casting performance and durability in this critical area. Coldwater coating on a multifilament core.

RIO Floating Fly Line   Designed to optimize rod performance at normal casting ranges with shorter heads, tapers and running lines that empower novice casters to make the cast. MainStream lines undergo the same rigorous production processes and quality control standards as all RIO products. The MainStream floating lines have a supple self-lubricating coating that remains memory-free in cold water.

RIO Outbound Fly Line   With a little celestial guidance, RIO has created the OutBound Integrated Shooting Taper. With this line the average freshwater or saltwater caster can launch casts far, far away to the previously unreachable. Designed to load high performance rods quickly with few false casts because the 37.5 ft head is heavier than the AFTMA standards. The supple coldwater Powerflex core and coating, combined with a taper design unique to each model, plus a thin tangle-free running line, ensure the longest flight time for unearthly casts. Available in 5 models from floating and intermediate heads with floating running lines, to DC Type 3, DC Type 6 and DC Type 8 sinking heads with intermediate sinking running lines.

RIO Bonefish Fly Line   The demands of bonefishing require a balance of long and short casts with precise presentation. RIO’s Bonefish fly line does just that, starting with a medium-length front taper to improve turnover without sacrificing presentation, and a slightly longer back taper to smooth out the casting loop. The tropical AgentX coating combined with a Powerflex single-strand monofilament core results in longer casts and a line that will not wilt in most extreme tropical conditions. With AgentX, the line floats higher than competitors’ lines, is easier to pick up off the water, and unlike competing products the running line will not sink and tangle while wading. Includes a welded loop at both ends for easy rigging.

RIO Tarpon Fly Line   The perfect line for Tarpon and other tropical species. This line features a long back taper for smooth, controlled casts and is slightly heavier than the AFTMA standard to load rods for quick accurate casts. The floating line features a tropical AgentX coating combined with the popular Powerflex core that will not wilt in the heat. The F/I line has a 9.5 ft clear intermediate tip for wary poons or on windy days. Both lines have welded loops at both ends for easy rigging.

RIO Clouser Fly Line   Casting heavy or wind-resistant flies has always been a challenge, even for good casters. Jim Vincent and Simon Gawesworth collaborated with Bob Clouser in developing the Clouser line. Bob is the famed fly tier, guide, instructor and conservationist best known for inventing the Clouser Minnow, one of the most versatile flies for both fresh and saltwater. The Clouser line, with its unique reverse compound taper and a bullet front taper, turns over heavy flies into the wind without effort and smoothly transfers energy to prevent the characteristic “kick” with heavily weighted flies. The Clouser line includes the RIO proprietary welded loop on the tip for quick leader changes.

RIO Bass Fly Line   Designed for the special disciplines of fly fishing for bass. This weight forward fly line combines an aggressive, short bullet-shaped forward taper and a medium length back taper. RIO’s Bass fly line is designed for fixed length (repeatable) short and long distance casts and is the perfect taper for casting large, wind-resistant bass flies. Excellent turnover results from the hard self-lubricating coating that doesn’t wilt or sag in the heat.

RIO Nymph Fly Line   RIO’s Nymph line is ideal for nymph fishing under all conditions, whether indicator, high stick or dead drift nymphing. The taper design has a long back taper and body for easy roll casting, mending and fly control that enhances casting weighted nymphs, indicators and big air-resistant flies. RIO’s new Super Floatation Technology creates an ultra high floating tip that stays up under normal conditions. The high visibility tip is a built-in strike indicator that can be cut off without affecting the casting performance. The Nymph line has a welded loop on the front tip for easy rigging and fast leader changes. For 2007 Rio has lengthened the body section and rear taper of the nymph line for easier roll and spey casts. The added head length is also great for mending.

RIO Selective Trout Fly Line   For discerning anglers and technical fishing, these unique weight forward and double tapers are designed for trout fishing, especially dry fly fishing. Both the weight forward and double taper lines have long front tapers for delicate presentations and an extended rear taper for effortless roll casting. The Selective Trout line is good on bamboo and all medium action trout rods. RIO has slightly increased the weight behind the front taper of the double taper for easy turnover of long leaders. The Selective Trout line is ultra supple and memory-free in winter. The AgentX coating makes these high floating lines incredibly easy to lift quietly off the water. The Super Floatation Tips have a welded loop except on the Double Taper lines and the WF1F and WF2F lines where delicacy is of the utmost importance.

RIO Classic Fly Line   An all-purpose versatile trout line with RIO’s unique taper for superior casting and fishing characteristics. The supple, self-lubricating coldwater coating delivers smoother casting as well as excellent turnover and delivery, especially where shorter casts and precise accuracy are required. The front taper improves presentation for the most demanding conditions.

RIO Shooting Lines Powerflex Core Fly Line   The Powerflex Core shooting lines have a strong monofilament core that results in thin diameters and a very slick durable finish for ultimate distance. These shooting lines are available with either a supple coldwater coating for tangle free performance or with a hard tropical coating that will not wilt in heat. All Powerflex Core shooting lines feature a large welded loop at the front end to speedily attach the RIOMax shooting heads. Two densities available: Floating and Intermediate.
